PRESIDENT'S LETTER
Dear Twin Lakes Members,

Pool season is right around the corner. In fact, our swim team has already been practicing for over a week now.

As you may have seen, our club renovations are winding down. Due to some unforeseen expenses, we are holding off on the siding for the concession stand portion of the pavilion to make sure we do not have a cash crunch in case unforeseen expenses arise during the pool season. Once we are comfortable with having sufficient cash, we will finish that portion as well. Still, I think it is looking pretty good.

I want give a personal welcome to all the new faces we will see at the pool this year. We have 20 new families that have joined. I also want to welcome our new pool manager for this season, Cindy Weiss. Those of you who have kids on Swim Team may already know Cindy as she is one of the coaches.

I also want to note the one face we will be very sad not to see around the pool this year – Meg Jeffrey. As I noted in an earlier e-mail, Meg passed away in her sleep the night of Monday, May 11th. For those of you lucky enough to know Meg, you know she was always cheerful, boundless, friendly, helpful, and many more adjectives too numerous to list - all things I am sure you would have seen from her as our newest Social director. I still cannot believe it has happened and we will miss her.

Finally, as always, if you have any ideas you believe should be considered for the club, please feel free to share - we always appreciate the input.

Tom Mumford
President, Twin Lakes

TREASURER'S REPORT
Currently we have $97,591.17 in our various bank accounts, with all bills paid with the exception of the $6,600 bill for parking lot repairs and improvements. I will pay that particular bill after the work is complete.

So far this year twenty members have sold their membership interests in Twin Lakes. We have added twenty-one new members. We still have inside and outside waiting lists.

We have collected 99.78% of budgeted revenue so far this fiscal year. We will have to keep a close eye on expenses. The construction loan ($90,000) is being converted to a permanent loan and should be paid off within 30 months. Please let me know if you have any questions about our finances.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE REPORT
The Social Crew is deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and co-Social Chair, Meg Jeffery. Meg served many years as part of the Social Crew, always willing to help set up, serve food, decorate, or clean up in an effort to make our parties more successful. We will greatly miss her creativity, energy and sense of fun.

As in the past, the Social Committee has another full summer of parties and events planned. Of course, we will kick off the season with the annual Memorial Day party. This year’s party will also double as the opening ceremony for the renovations completed at the pool over the winter. Many of our contractors and their families have been invited to join us for the celebration.

To all of the new members, we would like to welcome you to Twin Lakes and we hope that you will join us for all of the social events.

The parties on Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day are basically potluck parties. On Memorial Day and July 4th, the Social Crew cooks hamburgers, hotdogs and the now famous Twin Lakes Brats. On Labor Day, we smoke BBQ and serve it with all the trimmings. For each of these parties, we provide chips, drinks for the kids and beer for the adults. What a deal! All you have to do is bring a side dish to share with about 10-12 people.

We’re also planning to bring back the popular Taqueria el Vecino Night, Steak Night, and the Adult Dance party. Stay tuned for dates and details.

Remember the Social Committee motto: Chips are not a side dish!

If you would like to join the Social Crew, call Rob Nelson (678) 699-0096 or e-mail Rob Nelson. We are always looking for members. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Memorial Day Kick-off party!

BUILDING, GROUNDS & POOL
We are two weeks away from the pool opening. No one is happier to see that event than BGP. Jeff & I have had a long and active 8 months to bring the new Twin Lakes to the membership. We appreciate all the good tidings and are immensely proud of the outcome of the construction. We are only sorry that some unexpected electrical problems and DeKalb County Inspectors provided cost over-runs, and that we could not do the cypress siding on the North Side of the pavilion. We hope to finish this fall, but even now, we have a beautiful club and can be proud of all the members’ efforts.

Special thanks has to be given, of course to your board, their effort and support made it all possible. And then, we were lucky to have a really fine group of vendors, who worked with us to keep costs down and did an excellent job. They are listed below:

  1. Ryan Crooks: architect
  2. Bob Seay: contractor
  3. Travis Pitts: tile
  4. Jose Andrade: painter
  5. Mark & Ruth Good: electric
  6. David White: DeKalb Cty inspector
  7. Steve Miske: concrete
  8. Mike Harshberger: roofer
  9. Ted Zurn: plumber
  10. Jeff Wiggins: fencing
Also of course, we want to thank the participants in our two work days. We had the best turnout ever, and they helped us finish the job with hard work and perseverance. Here is the list of members who participated in one or (2) workdays:
  1. Barbara Arne
  2. Robyn, Chris, Claire and Lauren Binger
  3. Jim Bozza
  4. Stephanie Cunefare
  5. Rebecca DiGiuro
  6. Bill Dobb (2)
  7. Gerard Farek (2)
  8. Susan Gouinlock
  9. Meg Jeffrey
  10. Gil Kersh
  11. Maddy, Hannah, & Bill Laing
  12. Nancy (2) and Roy Lewis
  13. Jeff Lindaman (2)
  14. Jim Longanecker
  15. Richard and Laurie Marion
  16. Pam, Sarah and Alexander Mason
  17. Dan Monro
  18. Tom Mumford (2)
  19. Rob, Allison and Grace Nelson
  20. Jane Parr
  21. Neal Sampson
  22. Rodney Shaffer
  23. Mickey Stewart
  24. Loretta and Carlo Vanni
  25. Clayton Webster
  26. Susan Weibel
  27. Pat and Cap Whitner
Special thanks also has to be given to our VP Nancy Lewis, who pitched in not only on work days, but was our alter ego many times with Vendors when Jeff or I could not be at the club. For some reason the vendors preferred her to us.

One final shout out, when you look at the Club when it opens and observe all the planted flowers and pots around the pool- those are a direct result of the efforts of Milt Crouch and Neil Sampson.

We are proud to say that except for the additional electric and some plumbing demanded by DeKalb County, each of our projected costs came in under budget. It was a huge project, but the cooperation and support of each of you, should provide a large source of pride for many seasons to come.
